Kevin:
Hello everyone. Welcome again to Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin Podcasting. A quick and easy way to review English words and phrases. I'm your host, Kevin Jones, and today I've got a question from Nichibei student Ryota. OK. Let's go find Ryota and see what his question is.
Kevin:
Do you know where Ryota is?
Woman:
Yes, Maybe he's on the second floor.
Kevin:
Thanks. OK Ryota, where's Ryota? There he is. Hey Ryota,
Ryota:
Hey Kevin.
Kevin:
I heard that you have a question for the podcast.
Ryota:
Yeah... Do you know Skype?
Kevin:
Yeah, that's the internet telephone system.
Ryota:
Yeah that's right. Well it has a るすばんでんわ and ...
Kevin:
Wait. It has a what?
Ryota:
Oh, a るすばんでんわ is an answering machine service.
Kevin:
Oh OK. an answering machine.

Ryota:
Yeah, and I'd like to make a good message in Japanese and English for when I can't answer my calls
Kevin:
OK, I see. You want to record an outgoing message in English.
Ryota:
Yeah, and I'd like some suggestions for for what to say on an outgoing message.
Kevin:
Sure, That sounds easy. Let me get some opinions of other teachers and I'll get back to you.
Ryota:
OK.

Kevin:
Let's see, who can I get. There's Nichibei instructor Scott Seeley. Hi Scott.
Scott Seeley:
Hi Kevin. How're you doing?
Kevin:
Do you have a moment for a question?
Scott Seeley: Yeah.
Kevin:
OK. Imagine that you were going to record a message, an outgoing message for your home answering machine. what would you say.
Scott Seeley:
Ah I would say "Hi, we are unable to come to the phone at this moment. Please leave your name and number after the tone. We'll get back to you."

Kevin:
That sounds great Scott, thanks. Now, let's see if we can get another instructor. OK. Where's Conan? Ah, Conan. Hi, How's it going?
Conan Sharp:
Pretty good. How you doing Kevin?
Kevin:
Hey, I've got a quick question for you. Do you have time?
Conan:
You Betcha

Kevin:
OK. I want you to imagine that you were making an answering machine message for your home answering machine, what would you say?
Conan Sharp:
I'd say, "You have reached Conan Sharp. or the Sharp residence. I'll call you back as soon as I can." for example.

Kevin:
OK. That's a good one.
Kevin:
OK Ryota, there are some typical examples of outgoing messages in English. Are those helpful?
Ryota:
Yeah.
Kevin:
Well, let's hear your outgoing message in English.
Ryota:
Really?, OK. "Hello, this is Ryota. I can't answer your call right now, but if you leave a message after the tone, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you.
Kevin:
Sounds perfect Ryota.
Ryota:
